FAQs

How does Direct Primary Care work?

The health Insurance world has become extremely complex, confusing and frustrating. DPC is a rapidly growing new model of healthcare. DPC is a financial agreement made directly between a patient and a doctor. It cuts the insurance providers out of the process. You pay a monthly membership fee and I provide medical care. It's as simple as that.

Do I still need insurance?

Although you don't need insurance to see me, you will need insurance for prescription coverage, vaccines, labs, imaging studies, visits to the emergency room, and hospital care. It is best to have a PPO plan to cover for these additional medical needs. You may want to check with your insurance provider before you sign up.

I can provide services to HMO patients as well, but it may not be ideal as your insurance requires your assigned PCP to order all referrals, labs, vaccines, etc.

I am unable to take any Medi-Cal patients at this time.

Why do I need to pay a monthly fee when I can see another doctor using my insurance?

Charging a monthly membership fee and not billing insurance allows me to limit the number of patients I see. This means I can spend more time with you and your child, taking care of all of your child's needs rather than one or two issues at a time. I get to know you and your child. I will be the only doctor you see every time for a visit whether it is a well-visit or sick/urgent visit. I'll be the one you talk to when you call or text. Urgent issues will be handled within 24-48 hours based on how sick your child is.

Do I need to sign an long-term contract?

There is no long-term contract. You can cancel your membership any time with 30-day notice. I charge a one time enrollment fee of $50 per family. If you cancel your membership, but later decide you want to enroll again, the re-enrollment fee will be $250 per family subject to availability.
